Disclosure Still Applies

Bloggers and Facebook Members-

Remember that you still need to disclose to the public your REALTOR status when advertising properties on Facebook or your blogs! Online advertising is still advertising subject to the REALTOR Code of Ethics and state law.

Do you mean disclose on the post itself? Or is it enough that your profile discloses this fact?

My sources have told me it must be within the post itself.

I have verified with OREC that the disclosure of the brokerage firm must be prominently displayed even in a twitter or facebook post

I don't think OREC has any jurisdiction over the Internet.

OKCMAR can not give you legal advice however as a REALTOR you are required to follow all the laws of disclosure in the state of Oklahoma if you are licensed in the state of Oklahoma. I would suggest your broker call the OAR legal hotline or you confer with your attorney regarding whether disclosing your brokerage in a personal profile when advertising specific properties over the internet is adequate to fufill the Oklahoma state law requirement of disclosure.

Another option is to use the same disclosure language you are currently using in other forms of marketing at the end of any post which is specifically marketing a specific listing
